Castrol Raceway Indy?

New postby andybuhler on Tue Jul 28, 2009 9:01 am

With the Edmonton Indy looking for a new home possibly soon? wouldn't this spark interest for someone to get in touch with the city and maybe complete that road course?

IHRA, WoO, and INDY CAR SERIES!!!!!!

Not many facility's could say they can host all those events on one piece of real-estate.

My thoughts exactly altough you wonder if the city would like it since castrol isan't exactly located in edmonton. However spending whatever it takes to build that kind of permanent track to that level makes a better buisness case since you wouldn't have to spend all that $$$ each year in setups etc and you could have much more big events rather than one event a year. Throw in stuff like the alms,a superbike weekend, heck if you build that level of track you might be able to get some nascar series up here. In the long run a permanent track moakes more sense. However a new track would have to be built at castrol. The orginal track dug up is only 2.7km long in not in my opinion up to indy car level. Plus i don't think it makes snese anymore to use the dragstrip as part of the track anymore. The track would have to be independant of the strip.

Hell I didn't even think for super bike weekend,

you could have street legal Wednesdays and get all those kids out on their crotch rockets to drive like hell in a controlled environment! That would be a hell of a case to the city now, give edmonton riders a place to ride... really fast... instead of on the streets of edmonton..... Plus charging them $25 to cover costs (ambulance etc) the track could even profit and make a case to safe riding. Much like on the drag side.....

Someone should call Mayor mandell.

Yes i know about stratotech. My dad has known dan beith for years. However i don't think you will have see the national superbike series there.

However stratotech is backed completely for the entire season and supply doesn't come even remotely close to meeting demand. I also know its getting harder and harder to find places to autocross/slalom events.
