Racing News: McCarl Seeks First Win in Brad Doty Classic: Looks to Avenge Near Misses in Last
Posted by sean6m on Tuesday, July 08 @ 19:05:39 MDT (0 reads) (Read More... | 7338 bytes more | Racing News | Score: 0)
World of Outlaws Lima, OH— July 8, 2008— Terry McCarl feels like he has some unfinished business and a score to settle at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio in Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series action. He was running third last season in the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic and was caught up in an accident while trying to get through lapped traffic, thus ending his night and a shot at the win. In 2006, he finished second to Joey Saldana, after starting on the pole of the 40-lap contest.

McCarl will have a chance to make up for these near misses on Wednesday, July 9, as the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series visits Limaland Motorsports Park for the 20th edition of the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic. The event will pay the winner $10,000, with an additional $10,000 on the line as part of the University of Northwestern Ohio Clean Sweep Bonus, which would go to any driver that can set fast time in qualifying, win a heat race, win the Crane Cams Dash and win the A-Feature event.

ascs news Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (July 7, 2008) – The American Sprint Car Series Rocky Mountain Region is ready for its eastern-most stop of the year with Saturday night's event atop the semi-banked, 3/8-mile Lincoln County Raceway dirt oval in North Platte, NE.

A trio of teenage rookie contenders lead the way into Saturday's action, with Derrik Ortega, Chad Corken and Colt Treharn atop the series point charts.

Hailing from Albuquerque, NM, the 17-year-old Ortega carries a slim eight-point lead over 19-year-old Highlands, CO, shoe Corken into Saturday's event, with 18-year-old Los Lunas, NM, racer Treharn 94 markers off the lead pace in third.

Ohsweken by Tommy Goudge (July 5, 2008) -
Bryan Howland was on a mission Saturday night at Ohsweken Speedway during Night #2 of the American Sprint Car Series Northern Summer Nationals, featuring the ASCS Sprints on Dirt series vs. the ASCS Patriot series. After starting 8th in the 30-lap feature event, the Auburn, NY native sliced his way to the front and drove around Darren Long into the lead on lap 14. From there, Howland put on a clinic in lapped traffic and dominated the 2nd half of the race, taking his first victory in almost 2 full years, along with the $3,000 cheque as the inaugural winner of the Northern Summer Nationals. Howland's last victory also came at Ohsweken nearly two full years ago on July 14, 2006 in an ASCS Patriot event.

Ohsweken Rich Vleck, OHSWEKEN, Ont. (July 4, 2008)- Dustin Daggett was one of the strongest cars all night long at Ohsweken, but he needed a big chunk of luck early in the feature to open up the door to his fifth career win at his favorite racetrack.

Daggett was the beneficiary of a lap seven crash, which took out the top three runners and opened up the track to one of Ohsweken’s Most Dominant Cars. The Portland, MI driver, who had captured the last four ASCS Sprints on Dirt Features at Ohsweken, pulled away over the final 18 laps through expert maneuvers for the win.

Posted by sean6m on Sunday, July 06 @ 15:00:38 MDT (11 reads) (Read More... | 25235 bytes more | Racing News | Score: 0)
World of Outlaws West Memphis, AR— July 5, 2008—Last season Donny Schatz only finished outside of the Top-10 in four events with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series en route to his second consecutive series title, and one of those events was at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas, after he got upside down in a heat race and then had a flat tire in the A-Feature. He made up for that in a big way on Saturday night, as he led wire-to-wire in the 40-lap event, to pick up his 10th win of the season and the 80th of his Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series career. He now just one win away from breaking into the Top-Five on the series all-time win list.

Racing News: A Second Home Track: Kinser Looks for Third Consecutive Win at Tri-State Speedwa
Posted by sean6m on Saturday, July 05 @ 08:56:20 MDT (20 reads) (Read More... | 6623 bytes more | Racing News | Score: 0)
World of Outlaws Haubstadt, IN— July 5, 2008—Bloomington Speedway is Steve Kinser’s home track, though Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana can also be considered a home track as well for the native of Bloomington, Indiana. The high-banked ¼-mile is just a about a 100-mile jaunt from his home, and he and his family has many ties to the track, which is in its 51st year of operation this season.

Over the years, Kinser, the 20-time Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion has had unmatched success at Tri-State Speedway. He made his first start at the track in 1976, finishing sixth in that event, and since that time has racked up 34 Top-Five finishes at the track, including 21 wins. In his last two starts with the World of Outlaws at the track, he has led all 80 laps of A-Feature competition to pick up two wins.

World of Outlaws Brandon, SD— July 3, 2008—The last time that Craig Dollansky visited Huset’s Speedway on June 13 with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, he picked up a win over Donny Schatz, snapping a three-race win streak by the two-time defending series champion. On Thursday night, it was déjà vu, as Dollansky won for the second time this season at the high-banked 3/8-mile and again snapped a three race win streak that Schatz had going.

World of Outlaws Brandon, SD— July 2, 2008—Paul McMahan was waiting for “the call” all season long. While he was having a very successful season driving for Hall of Famer Rick Ferkel on the All Star Circuit of Champions trail, he was longing to return to the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, where he has competed full-time in four of the last five seasons. He received the call he had been waiting for last week, as he joined forces with car owner Lonnie Parsons to pilot the No. 6 Casey’s General Stores Maxim.

The team will make their third start together on Thursday, July 3 as the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series opens a busy Fourth of July weekend at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota. It will be the series final stop of the season at the track.
