A total of 14 points paying events remain in 2010 at 10 tracks in nine states.

Kinser used his eighth win of the season in the $20,000 finale at Skagit coupled with a fourth-place performance in the opener to get to within single digits of Saldana for the eighth time this year. Kinser leads the series with 50 Top-10 finishes in the 56 A-Feature events that have been contested in 2010, and is tied with Saldana for the series lead with 34 Top-Five finishes.

Meyers finished fifth on Saturday night after a ninth-place effort in the opener at Skagit to remain third in points, just 19 markers behind Kinser for second and 25 out of the lead as he chases his first series title. The California native has 44 Top-10 finishes on the season with 28 of those being Top-Five performances. He earned five bonus points on Friday night for setting fast time, which was his ninth quick time of the year, tying him with Paul McMahan for the lead in that department, and followed that up by turning the second quickest lap on Saturday night to earn four bonus points. Meyers has earned the most qualifying bonus points of any driver this season.

Saldana rebounded from a 17th-place finish on Friday night to lead 23 laps on Saturday and finish second to earn his 34th Top-Five finish of the season which is tied for the series lead with Kinser. Saldana has led the World of Outlaws championship standings after 44 races this season and has held the top spot since a win in the Knight Before the Kings Royal on July 16 as he seeks his first title.

Donny Schatz, the four-time and defending World of Outlaws champion, remains fourth in points, following a third-place finish in the opener at Skagit before getting caught up in a couple of accidents in the finale, relegating him to a 15th-place finish. The North Dakota native has 43 Top-10 finishes this season with 29 of those being Top-Fives. He set fast time in the finale at Skagit to earn five bonus points.

Jason Sides finished second in the opener at Skagit and was sixth in the finale to remain fifth in points. The veteran has racked up 44 Top-10 finishes on the season with 23 of those being Top-Five runs.

Paul McMahan used a podium finish on Saturday night along with an 11th-place run on Friday to remain sixth in points. He has 39 Top-10 finishes with 22 of those being Top-Fives.

Craig Dollansky is currently seventh in points on the strength of 29 Top-10 finishes with 16 Top-Fives, while Lucas Wolfe is eighth having 25 Top-10′s and 14 Top-Fives.

Danny Lasoski finished fifth on the first night at Skagit and was ninth in the finale and is currently ninth in points. The 2001 series champion has 29 Top-10 finishes with seven Top-Fives, including his first win of the season last Wednesday night at Cottage Grove Speedway in Oregon.

Kraig Kinser finished eighth each night at Skagit to remain 10th in points on the strength of 26 Top-10 finishes.

Alger, WA-September 4, 2010- Steve Kinser and Joey Saldana have been neck and neck for most of the season in the World of Outlaws championship standings, as well as on the track and off the track in most statistical categories. That battle got even closer Saturday night at Skagit Speedway, as the duo traded the lead a couple of times at the high-banked three-tenths-mile bullring, with Kinser coming out on top in the $20,000 finale of the two-day show to move to within just six markers of Saldana in points as he chases his record 21st title.

Kinser led the first three laps from the pole, before Saldana charged around him on the high side of turn four on the fourth lap. Kinser retook the top spot on the 27th lap in heavy traffic and would lead the remaining 15 laps to score his first World of Outlaws A-Feature win at Skagit Speedway and his second overall triumph at the track adding to a preliminary feature win he had at the track in 1995. For the Hall of Famer, it was the 560th World of Outlaws A-Feature win of his illustrious career.

“It feels good to win,” said Kinser. “We hadn’t been running all that well since Knoxville, so yesterday we put together a car I had been running and we were able to get it dialed in pretty good. It had a good feel to it tonight and we put ourselves in a good position.”

Kinser took the white flag as the leader when the final caution of the night flew, setting up a two-lap shootout with Saldana for the $20,000 top prize. The race was extended from the schedule 40-laps to 41 laps by way of World of Outlaws rules, which states that a race must end with two consecutive green flag laps. On the final double file restart, Kinser chose the low line as he did on each of the restarts he was out front for. The 20-time series champion used a strong restart to quickly jump to a five car-length lead and would end up winning by nearly a half-a-second in the Bass Pro Shops Maxim.

“I didn’t want Joey (Saldana) to get a big run on me and put a slide job on in (turn) one or get a run on my on the top in three,” he stated of the final restart. “Those were my only concerns. After the first lap I was pretty good. I got a little conservative. I knew he would have a hard time getting by me as long as I didn’t make a big mistake.”

Kinser has a close call on the 33rd lap when Travis Jacobson, Jesse Whitney and Sam Hafertepe Jr. got together right in front of him. He clipped one of the cars as he went to the high side of turn two to avoid the accident, suffering some damage to his front nose wing. During the red flag that followed that incident, his crew was able to make some repairs on his machine for the final few laps.

“It really didn’t affect it too much,” he said of the damage to the front of his machine.
“We were able to keep going and were all right. The car was pretty good all night long tonight.”

Saldana led a total of 23 laps aboard the Budweiser Maxim as he rebounded from some bad luck while running second on Friday. For the second generation driver it was his 34th Top-Five finish of the season which has him tied with Kinser in that department as he continues to lead the series standings as he chases his first series title.

“We did everything right tonight,” said Saldana. “The team has been doing a flawless job. You make a little mistake and you pay the price. Tonight for example we got in lapped traffic and I got in the fence and knocked my Jacobs ladder off and Steve (Kinser) definitely took advantage of that situation and beat me.”

Paul McMahan had an epic battle with his teammate Saldana in the late going for the second spot and wound up coming home third in the Great Clips Maxim to earn his 23rd Top-Five of the season. He started 11th and steadily worked his way to the front, first finding the Top-Five on the 11th lap of the scheduled 40-lapper. He worked his way into third on the 18th go-around.

“It was a good run for us,” McMahan said. “We had a great race car tonight. My guys bust their butts every day to get the race cars ready. We had a shot at Joey (Saldana) and Steve (Kinser) one time and the red came out and that kind of let those guys work on their race cars. We didn’t really want to touch ours much because we had a good race car.”

Saldana lined up on the high side of the track on the final double file restart, the same spot he started on each and every one of the four restarts. He looked high in turns one and two to no avail on the restart and looked low in both turns one and two and again in three and four on the white flag lap, but could not get a run on Kinser.

“That was really my only shot,” shared the native of Brownsburg, Indiana of the final restart. “Once I knocked the ladder off the car was not stuck like it was before. I definitely needed that caution and the green-white-checker. We’ll keep working hard and come back on Monday and see if we can get one.”

McMahan, who ran second for a couple of laps lined up on the inside of the second row on the final double file restart and nearly got around Saldana for second coming off turn four and ended up dropping back a little bit on the final circuit.

“I wanted to get by Joey (Saldana) as fast I could to get a shot at Steve (Kinser),” noted McMahan. “I kind of squeezed Joey up by the fence and left him enough room to get by and he was able to drive back by me two times. If it wasn’t a teammate, I probably would have squeezed him a little harder. We race hard and we race clean and it was a great overall night for Kasey Kahne Racing and this entire team.”

Brad Sweet finished fourth in the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Maxim to score his best World of Outlaws finish of the season, also putting all three Kasey Kahne Racing cars in the Top-Five.

Jason Meyers came home fifth in the GLR Investments KPC to earn his 28th Top-Five finish of the season. The California native remains third in points, just 25 markers out of the top spot as he chases his first World of Outlaws title. He opened the night by turning the second fastest lap in time trials to earn four bonus points in the standings.

Jason Sides was sixth in the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim, with Friday night’s winner Jac Haudenschild coming from 19th to finish seventh in the Owens-Corning Fiberglass XXX to earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award. Kraig Kinser was eighth in the Quaker State Maxim, with Danny Lasoski ninth aboard the Casey’s General Stores JEI. Kerry Madsen rounded out the Top-10 in the Halls Haulage KPC.

The World of Outlaws return to action on Monday, September 6 at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington.

Shaffer‚s win in the Second Annual Duel in the Dirt is his 17th overall
feature victory of 2010 as the defending All Star champion continues his
march to the $50,000 series championship. Friday‚s win is Shaffer‚s 31st
career All Star victory, moving him into 15th on the all-time win list.

„Winning the Knoxville Nationals sure puts the pressure on me. Every body
at home is like Œyou should be able to go up there and win,‚ but it‚s a
different night and in dirt track racing anything can happen. But the guys
had the car great,‰ said Shaffer beside his VRP Shocks, Kistler Engines,
J&J Auto Racing, sponsored machine.

It took five tries to finally get a lap in for the feature with Carl Bowser
looping it out on the initial start followed by Dean Jacobs getting crossed
up on the second attempt and Eric Williams getting upside down on the
third. Bowser again spun on the fourth try at the start. The fifth time was
the charm and Dale Blaney, who won the last time the All Stars visited the
historic Lernerville Speedway, grabbed the early lead. But a caution on the
second circuit for track champion Danny Holtgraver who spun, would again
bunch up the field.

On the ensuing restart Blaney would drive the George Fisher Racing, Ti22
Performance machine back into the lead with Lance Dewease, Greg Wilson and
Shaffer in tow. Shaffer would drive his Aaron Call/Janet Holbrook owned
machine under both Wilson and Dewease with a perfect slide job coming out
of turn two on lap five to grab second. Shaffer, a former Lernerville track
champion, began to reel Blaney in and two laps later, took the top spot as
they raced into lapped traffic. By lap 18, Shaffer had seven lapped
machines between himself and Blaney.

Jacobs would spin on lap 24, but Shaffer had seven lapped cars separating
him from Blaney and would set sail to victory lane. However, the crowd was
treated to a great battle for third as Dewease and Lernerville legend Ed
Lynch Jr. would swap the position each lap over the last four circuits
before Lynch would take it at the checkers.

„In sprint car racing you can never give up and run it hard all the time. I
didn‚t know how many lapped cars were between us on that last yellow∑I just
knew I had to run hard,‰ said the driver known as the „Steel City Outlaw.‰

For Blaney, a three-time All Star champion, it‚s hard to be upset finishing
behind the hottest sprint car driver in the country.

„The track was great∑if you were really hooked up like he (Shaffer‚s) was.
That was just kind of an old-fashioned whippin‚ they gave us right
there∑they‚ve been going awful great,‰ said Blaney. „Someone is going to
have to beat this guy one of these days∑he‚s doing a heck of a job.‰

Lynch, a multi-time Lernerville champion, was excited about his third place
finish.

„We had a heck of a race going on∑inside, outside just trying to get a
podium finish. Lance is a good clean, hard racer,‰ said Lynch beside his
Howard Concrete, J&J Racing, Kistler Engines, Ultralight Brakes backed
machine.

CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT OHSWEKEN

by Tommy Goudge (September 3, 2010) – Season Championship night presented by Rochester Americans was wild and unpredictable on Friday at Ohsweken Speedway. Glenn Styres emerged with the Corr/Pak Merchandising Sprint Car feature win, while Dave Dykstra needs only to take a green flag during Nationals weekend to claim the season championship. Larry Czinege, Jr. won his second career ESSO Thunder Stocks feature; while Jamie Cox held on to claim the championship. Steve Hess won his third ESSO Mini Stocks feature of the year, and Trevor Goulding claimed the season title. Jesse McDonald won his first Bomber feature of 2010, while Karl Sault won his second championship. Shawn Ireland won the Bomber “Crack The Whip” race, Brian Page and Bill Harju claimed Vintage Car wins, Zeger Van Thuyl won the ESSO Thunder Stocks Mechanics race, and Adam Reidel got the ESSO Mini Stocks Mechanics race win.

CORR/PAK MERCHANDISING SPRINT CARS

Kyle Moffit and Glenn Styres started the twenty-five lap feature on the front row, but the caution flew for Dain Naida spinning wildly in turn one. With the caution waving, the rest of the field did not make it through the second turn before a red flag was needed to stop the race. The incident began as Tom Huppunen spun, collecting Mitchell Brown, Dave Dykstra, Stan Zanchin, Todd Hoddick, and Mike Ling. Zanchin got the worst of the exchange, landing upside down at the exit of turn two requiring the red flag condition. All the drivers emerged uninjured, with only Huppunen and Dykstra able to restart.

Moffit led the first four laps after the restart, but went off track in turn two and tapped the outside wall inflicting enough damage to end his night. Styres assumed the lead and led the rest of the way, but had to survive many restarts along the way as flat tires, crashes, and mechanical issues plagued others in the field. Keith Dempster had one of the harder hits of the night when he contacted the wall in turn one on lap twenty-three. The 2008 champion emerged from his heavily damaged machine gingerly, but uninjured.

As Styres took his second win of the season, Dain Naida came from the back of the pack to take the runner up spot with Tom Huppunen, Jared Zimbardi, and Kyle Patrick rounding out the top five. Heat races for the twenty-three car field were claimed by Jared Zimbardi, Kevin Job, and Tom Huppunen.

Dave Dykstra finished sixth in the feature despite being involved in the crash on the first lap, then changing a flat right rear tire at the midway point putting an exclamation point on his outstanding season.

ESSO THUNDER STOCKS

Rob Disher and Chris Dickie started the twenty-five lap feature up front, but the field quickly fanned out as championship contenders Jamie Cox and Billy Bleich searched for a path to the front. Larry Czinege, Jr. was again very fast on Friday, and quickly took over the lead, while Bleich, Ryan Dinning, and others raced in the top five.

Isaac Pellisero spun in turn two to bring out a caution flag on lap ten, and when the race restarted, Rob Disher and Ed McNamara both lost wheels in turn one to bring the caution back out. Bleich knew he had to finish at the front and looked for ways to get there, but Czinege proved too strong out front, while Ryan Dinning slipped by to claim second at the end. Bleich settled for third, followed by Phil Nyssen and Mike Thorne.

Jamie Cox was cruising in the top five and making sure his championship was wrapped up until the last lap when mechanical problems nearly spelled disaster. Cox was able to hold on and finish eighth, good enough to claim his first ever ESSO Thunder Stock title.

Heat races for the twenty-one car field were claimed by Czinege, Lee Winger, and Nyssen.

ESSO MINI STOCKS

Mike Giberson and Kevin Hilborn began the twenty lap feature on the front row, but Steve Miller was able to get out front and dice with Hilborn for the lead in the early going. Miller felt pressure from Abel Castelein and Craig Erskine before Steve Hess eventually became the main challenger and got by for the lead.

Paul Goodale survived a scary moment when his #14 was sent flipping in turn two. Goodale emerged unhurt, while a handful of cars were sent to the pits for ignoring the red flag.

Hess drove on to his second win in a row, while Erskine, Castelein, Taylor, and Mike Evers rounded out the top five. Heat races for the twenty-two car field were claimed by Hess, Castelein, and Evers. Trevor Goulding finished sixth and wrapped up his first ESSO Mini Stocks championship.

BOMBERS

Brittany Gyokery and Shawn Ireland began the Bomber season championship race on the front row, but Jesse McDonald eventually emerged from the pack to take the lead while Ireland had problems. McDonald got the feature win, followed by Sarah Rutherford, Aaron Turkey, Gyokery, and Matt Smith.

Heat races for the twenty-two car field were claimed by Dave Patton and Shawn Ireland, while John Cote got the B-Main win.

Karl Sault finished sixth and wrapped up his second consecutive Bomber division championship.

NEXT WEEK AT OHSWEKEN

Alger, WA-September 3, 2010- Jac Haudenschild and Tim Kaeding are certainly two of the most exciting drivers to ever climb into a sprint car, and on Friday night at Skagit Speedway in Washington, the pair lived up to this moniker, as they battled tooth and nail in heavy traffic in the opener of the World of Outlaws two-day event at the high-banked three-tenths-mile bullring

Officially they traded the lead four times, but in one stretch of two laps they unofficially swapped the top spot five times, trading slide jobs on both ends of the race track. Haudenschild would end up coming out on top to earn his third A-Feature win of the season and his first career triumph at Skagit.

“I’m glad to win an Outlaws race here at Skagit,” said Haudenschild. “Steve Beitler had the track beautiful tonight. It was great to race on and our car was going good. The crew did a great job giving me a fast car tonight. It was a fun race up there with Tim (Kaeding).”

Haudenschild jumped to the lead at the start and had a few car lengths lead when the first caution of the night flew on the third lap. On the ensuing restart he chose the high line and again led the field into turns one and two, with Kaeding looking look in turns three and four to no avail.

The caution flag flew again on the 10th lap, with Haudenschild choosing the low line for the double file restart. Kaeding took the lead on this restart and would pace the next seven laps. In traffic Haudenschild caught back up to Kaeding and slid under him coming off turn four to take the top spot on the 17th lap. Kaeding would get back around him on the next lap to officially be credited with the lead, with Haudenschild getting back by him on the 19th lap on the back straightaway. Haudenschild would lead the final 12 circuits on his way to the win and led a total of 22 laps on the night in the Owens-Corning Fiberglass XXX.

“The car was good all night,” stated Haudenschild. “You couldn’t ask for a better car than that. We were good in traffic and in open track. It was a pleasure to drive, that’s for sure.”

The final caution of the night came with five laps remaining, with Haudenschild choosing the high side for the double file restart. He wound up choosing the high side twice on restarts and the low side once while out front. The Hall of Famer used a strong restart to pull away at the end.

Kaeding crossed the line second, but was disqualified for losing a muffler on the track on the final lap. By way of World of Outlaws rules, he was scored last in the 24-car field.

“I thought I could get off the bottom good enough to get it done, but the top was definitely faster,” explained Haudenschild when asked about the final double file restart. “I just had to run my own line and get off the corner good.”

Jason Sides ended up second in the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim after starting fourth and falling back to seventh in the early laps. He restarted fourth on the final restart with five laps to go and shot by Steve Kinser for third. He snagged the runner-up spot coming off turn four to the checkered flag.

“We really didn’t need that caution,” Sides said. “We were going pretty good and I think we had something for them in traffic. In open track they kind of got away from us a little bit. Tim (Kaeding) hurt a motor there at the end and we got around him on the last corner of the last lap. All in all it was a good night for us.”

Donny Schatz made a strong charge at the end after starting the 30-lap contest in the ninth spot. On the final restart he lined up on the outside of the third row and powered his way past Danny Lasoski and Steve Kinser en route to his 29th Top-Five finish of the season aboard the Armor All/STP J&J.

“We had a good car at the end and I’m looking forward to 40 laps tomorrow night,” said Schatz. “This place is tricky and I’m glad to get a Top-Three. The car was real tight at the beginning and was a lot freer at the end. It was fun and I was able to gain some points on guys I needed to gain on, so we’ll keep going.”

Steve Kinser ended fourth in the Bass Pro Shops Maxim and gained 26 points in the World of Outlaws championship standings on Joey Saldana, who ended up 17th after getting on his side when he ran into Shane Stewart’s stopped machine under caution. Saldana went to the work area where his team made quick repairs on the Budweiser Maxim to get him back out. Jason Meyers came home ninth and is currently 23 markers out of the lead as he chases his first series title.

Danny Lasoski picked up his second consecutive Top-Five finish in the Casey’s General Stores JEI coming home fifth on Friday night. Jason Solwold was sixth in the Extreme Oilfield Technology Maxim. Sammy Swindell picked up the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award, coming from 18th to finish seventh in the Big Game Treestands Maxim. Jonathan Allard was eighth in the Red Line Oil A.R.T, with Meyers ninth aboard the GLR Investments KPC. Sam Hafertepe Jr. came from 17th to finish 10th in the Lone Star Speedway Maxim, after winning The Last Chance Showdown to race his way into the main event.

The World of Outlaws wrap up the weekend at Skagit Speedway on Saturday, September 4 with a $20,000 40-lap feature event. Saturday will be STP Hat Day at Skagit Speedway, with the first 1,000 fans through the gate beginning at 5 p.m. Pacific, receiving a free STP Hat.

Alger, WA-September 2, 2010- Toni Lutar’s truck, trailer and crew left White Rock, British Columbia, Canada at the end of January to make the 3,100 mile trek to Florida to open the season and for the first time in about nine months, were back at their home base this week, as the World of Outlaws continue the 2010 Gold Rush Tour with a stop at Skagit Speedway in Washington on Friday, September 3 and Saturday, September 4. For Lutar, it will be the closest race to home all season, as Skagit is just a mere 40 miles from his shop.

Lutar has competed a number of times at Skagit Speedway over the years and has won three races at the high-banked three-tenths-mile bullring, which is located in the very scenic Northwest corner of Washington.

“It will be nice to go over there and see a lot of people that I haven’t seen for a while,” said Lutar. “I’m looking forward to getting to race there. It will be our only chance to get over there and race this year so it will be a good weekend for us.”

While he has visited many new tracks this season during his rookie year on the road with the World of Outlaws aboard the Northwest Used Auto Parts KPC, Lutar will get the chance to visit one he knows very well when he rolls through the pit gate at Skagit Speedway, as he has turned countless laps at the track over the years. He competed for the first time at the track in 1979, the same year the World of Outlaws first visited Skagit. He won his first race there in 2002 and also scored victories in 2004 and 2005. He has over 50 career Top-10 finishes at the high-banked bullring with nearly 40 of those being Top-Fives.

“It helps a whole bunch, that’s for sure, because you know what to look for and expect there and have a good idea of what to do,” noted the contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award when asked about his experience at Skagit Speedway. “The surface has changed a lot over the years and they say it has changed again this year, so we’ll have to wait until we get there to see what it looks like and we’ll go from there.”

Lutar, who began racing over 30 years ago, before taking a little time away from the sport, had always wanted to take to the road with the World of Outlaws full-time and the right opportunity presented itself this season. In addition to competing against the best sprint car drivers in the world night in and night out, Lutar has still found the time to operate his auto parts business back home in Canada.

“It’s been fun for the most part and I am really enjoying it,” he stated of his first full season on the road with the World of Outlaws. “The travel has been the biggest challenge. I have tried to get home as much as I can and I live on the West Coast (of Canada), so we have been flying across the country quite a bit.”

The Canadian has visited many tracks this season that he had heard and read about for years, including making his first trip to the sprint car hot bed of Central Pennsylvania and the famed Williams Grove Speedway. He also got to race at three tracks in Canada in three difference Provinces as he made his debut at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec and Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario back in July, before competing at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta last weekend.

“Racing all the time has been the best part,” Lutar said with a smile when asked about what the best part of this season has been. “It’s been a lot of fun. We’ve become pretty good friends with a lot of the guys out here and that has helped a lot as well and been a great thing. The fans have been great to us as well. I had a lot of fans out in Pennsylvania so it was great to finally go out there and meet them. The fans all over have been fantastic this year to us.”

Lutar scored the best finish of his World of Outlaws career earlier this season at Tri-State Speedway in Oklahoma, coming home seventh. He has raced his way into the dash twice, first at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in May with the cameras from SPEED rolling and the following night in his debut at Tri-City Speedway in Pennsylvania. He is second in the standings for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award and 15th overall in points.

“I want to get a few more Top-10′s,” he shared when asked what will make it a good end to the season. “If we can do that, I’ll be happy and it will be a good start for next year. We have learned a lot this year that I think will help us down the road and we’ll keep working at it. You learn every time you race against these guys as they are the best in the business.”

Alger, WA-September 2, 2010 -Skagit Speedway in Washington was one of the track that hosted the World of Outlaws during the inaugural 1978 season and also the next year as well, and after a couple of hiatuses, the track has now become a staple during the Gold Rush Tour, with the series visiting the high-banked three-tenths-mile bullring each and every year since 2006. That tradition will continue this week, as the World of Outlaws visit the track located in the always scenic Pacific Northwest on Friday, September 3 and Saturday, September 4, with $20,000 awaiting the winner on Saturday night, with both nights being full racing programs.

Jason Meyers won the finale at Skagit Speedway last season to earn the $20,000 top prize, which at the time was the richest payday of his career. He has since matched that, winning the Ironman 55 last month to again pick up $20,000. The veteran has finished on the podium in each of his last four starts at the track. Meyers is currently third in points just 39 markers out of the lead as he seeks his first World of Outlaws title.

Joey Saldana was victorious in the opener at Skagit Speedway last season, recording a clean sweep of the night, which was the only clean sweep of the entire 2009 season with the World of Outlaws. He leads all current drivers at Skagit with three wins and has finished in the Top-10 in eight of his nine career starts at the track. He currently has a 36-point lead on 20-time World of Outlaws champion Steve Kinser in the series standings as he too chases his first title.

Kinser won a preliminary feature at Skagit Speedway in 1995. He has 11 career Top-10 finishes at the track dating back to 1978, with 10 of those being Top-Fives. He leads the series with 48 Top-10 finishes on the season and has picked up 32 Top-Fives as well.

Craig Dollansky won the finale at Skagit in 2007 and has seven career Top-10 finishes in nine starts at the track. He has won a couple of times this season and recently moved up to seventh in points.

Donny Schatz, the four-time and defending series champion, won a preliminary feature at the high-banked bullring in 2006. He has eight career Top-10 finishes in nine starts at the track.

The World of Outlaws competed at Skagit Speedway for the first time in the series inaugural season of 1978 with Hall of Famer Doug Wolfgang picking up a couple of wins. Nine different drivers have visited Victory Lane at the track in the 15 A-Feature events contested.

Saturday, September 4 is STP Hat Day at Skagit Speedway. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a FREE hat, courtesy of STP. Gates will open at 5 p.m. Pacific on Saturday.

Cottage Grove, OR-September 1, 2010- Danny Lasoski certainly didn’t forget how to get to Victory Lane with the World of Outlaws, despite having gone 77 consecutive races without a victory dating back to July of 2009. He returned to a very familiar place on Wednesday night and that was the winner’s circle at Cottage Grove Speedway in Oregon, as he scored his first win of 2010 and the fourth of his career with the series at the high-banked ¼-mile bullring.

Lasoski took the lead from Craig Dollansky coming off turn two on the 23rd lap and would pace the remainder of the 40-lap contest, using four strong double file restarts to stay out front. For the 2001 World of Outlaws champion, the $10,000 win was the 87th of his career with the series.

“This feels great,” said Lasoski. “Lonnie Parsons (Car Owner) deserves a lot more of these. We’ve had a terrible year and want to thank him and Don Lamberti and all the people at Casey’s General Stores and everyone that is involved in this team and makes it strong. This show that we never gave up. Every time you win is great and it definitely builds momentum.”

Lasoski had a big lead coming to the white flag, when the red flag flew, for Lucas Wolfe, who got upside while running in the Top-Five, setting up a final two lap shootout, with Joey Saldana, lining up alongside Lasoski, with Sammy Swindell and Donny Schatz in the second row. Lasoski chose the low side of the track for the double file restart, as he did each and every time when he was leading and quickly jumped to a lead and would pull away on the final circuit aboard the Casey’s General Stores JEI.

“I was going down the back stretch and thinking we might win us one and the red came out, so I did cringe a little bit,” stated Lasoski in Victory Lane. “Our car was good and we could go on the top and the bottom. That’s a testament to my crew and how hard they work and what a good car they gave me tonight.”

Lasoski, who led the final 18 laps on Wednesday night, has finished in the Top-10 in all but one of his 12 starts with the series at the track, with nine of those being Top-Five performances. Lasoski took the lead for the first time on the 19th lap in turns one and two only to have the caution flag fly before that lap was completed, thus placing him back in second on the ensuing double file restart. He then kept pace with Dollansky and once he got around him, the native of Dover, Missouri masterfully worked lapped traffic as the laps wound down.

“Brian (Crockett) does a great job with the track and he gave us a top and a bottom tonight and let us race on this thing,” shared the winner. “I always enjoy coming here to race. Thanks to all the fans for coming out.”

Lucas Wolfe started on the pole and paced the field for the first 10 laps, before Craig Dollansky used a strong restart on the 11th lap to charge by him on the high side of turn two. Dollansky, who wound up running out of fuel on the 36th lap while running third, led 12 laps on Wednesday night.

Donny Schatz charged from the back of the field after getting caught up in a lap-five incident to finish second aboard the Armor All/STP J&J. It was the second consecutive year he came from the back of the pack to finish on the podium at Cottage Grove Speedway, where he scored his first career World of Outlaws A-Feature win in 1998. He originally lined up 15th which helped him earn the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award for a series-best sixth time in 2010.

“I just put myself in a beehive there, I don’t know what happened,” said Schatz of the early race incident. “We’ve had to do that here before and it’s a fun little place to race. When you come from the back like that you hope for 50 laps and its fun when it gets like this. My team did a great job and Danny (Lasoski) did a great job tonight. If we keep getting those seconds and thirds, we’ll get the wins.”

Joey Saldana, the current World of Outlaws point leader, finished third in the Budweiser Maxim after lining up eighth, to earn his series leading 33 rd Top-Five finish of the season and gain 10 points on Steve Kinser, who finished eighth on Wednesday night and now has a 26-point advantage over the 20-time series champion, while Jason Meyers who finished sixth, is 39 markers out of the top spot with 16 events remaining in 2010.

“We had a pretty good night,” said Saldana. “We just kind of missed it there. We were close, so I’ll take it. Obviously Donny (Schatz) was pretty good coming from where he did twice. We were trying to be pretty basic tonight. Willie Kahne my crew chief just had a little girl so he was home with her tonight, so it was just Kale (Kahne) Kolten (Gouse) and myself so I’d say it was a pretty good night just going off our notes.”

Schatz lined up on the outside of the second row on the final double file restart with two laps to go, charging by Sammy Swindell to move into third and then getting by Joey Saldana on the final circuit to finish in the runner-up spot. For Schatz, it was his 28th Top-Five finish of the season.

“I knew I was better than Sammy (Swindell) and Joey (Saldana), but I could never really see Danny (Lasoski),” shared Schatz. “When the leader is out front you can see what’s going on behind him, but you can’t see him. Those guys knew where I was going to be on the race track and I had to go somewhere else. We had an awesome car tonight.”

Saldana now has eight career Top-10 finishes at in 10 starts at Cottage Grove Speedway. He worked the high side of the track for a majority of the 40-lap contest as he first battled his way into the Top-Five and then the Top-Three in the late going, as he continues to chase his first World of Outlaws title.

“I wanted to win the race and thought we were in position to win it and just wasn’t good enough,” said Saldana. “I’m not even thinking about points right now, I’m just thinking about what I needed to do to win this race.”

Sammy Swindell finished fourth in the Big Game Treestands Maxim, with Jason Sides fifth in the Wetherington Tractor Service Maxim. Jason Meyers was sixth in the GLR Investments KPC. Paul McMahan was seventh piloting the Great Clips Maxim, with Steve Kinser coming all the way from the 20 th starting spot to finish eighth aboard the Bass Pro Shops Maxim. Brad Sweet came home ninth in the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Maxim, with Jonathan Allard rounding out the Top-10 in the Red Line Oil A.R.T.
